Effects of waste and....
Jul 3 2014
Waste damages the environment. If dumped in the open, it provides home to disease carrying species. Burning of waste can cause air pollution. Dumping at sea, pollutes the sea. Rotting rubbish seeps in to the ground and damages the soil.
There is no way of getting rid of waste that does not harm the environment in some way. But, all rubbish must be put somewhere. So more land is needed for waste site.
Some ways to minimise waste:
* Optimum use of products and equipment. e.g. washing machine or dish washer should be used when it is fully loaded.
* Lights and fans should be switched off when not in use.
* Water taps should be closed properly.
* Always try and use products made of recycled materials. It will help to eliminate a substantial part of the waste we currently generate
