Hi Swamishishu,
A Free and Fair Gram Sabha.
That’s what the villagers in Mahan, Singrauli are asking for, and it’s pretty URGENT.
The local administration in Mahan has promised a Gram Sabha between 16th and 22nd August. But the villagers have been informed there is no Gram Sabha happening for NOW.
Let’s not WAIT, and spread the word demanding a Free and Fair Gram Sabha!
|
Why the DELAY?
Why is the administration buying time to conduct the Gram Sabha? Is it scuttling with the rights of people in Mahan? The Mahan Sangharsh Samiti (MSS) is demanding the Sabha in all 54 villages which depend on the majestic Mahan forests.[1]
Additionally, a new district collector has been appointed in the village, delaying the process further. Are these new tactics to postpone the Gram Sabha? The companies are waiting for the final mining lease from the state government, once it goes through - 5 lakh trees will be cut to mine coal! 50000 livelihoods are relying on these forests!
Imagine - if your bread and butter depended on a promise, and all you get in return is more waiting time. Frustrating isn’t it?
ASK the local administration to keep up its promise! The pressure is building, add your voice for a free and fair Gram Sabha NOW!
SHARE the petition to demand the Gram Sabha with your social networks NOW |

Thanks a ton
