Dear Swamishishu,
Thank you for your email inquiry.
I dont really understand what you mean by joining the orangutan project.
The Care Centres we support do not have volunteer orangutan carers as such, as they encourage local employment and long term relationships with the care of the orangutans.
However, TOP runs a volunteer program and we do this in conjunction with IAR.
It’s on our websitehttp://www.orangutan. org.nz/volunteer
And more info here
We can also suggest:
• The Orangutan Foundation six-week volunteer groups in Tanjung Putting National Park (www.orangutan.org.uk)
• Volunteering with the Orangutan Health Project in Sumatra, Indonesia who run a research project which aims to discover more about the special behaviours and ecological conditions necessary for the maintenance of health in wild Orangutans
• Becoming involved with TOP within Australia and supporting TOP in your State by registering as a friend on our website ~ you'll receive email updates on activities and fund raising/awareness events in your area.
• Great Orangutan Project 2 and 4 week Volunteer options
• Orangutan Tropical Peatland Volunteer program
You may like to enquire future with insitu organisations such as WWF & OFI.
However if you were wanting to volunteer within Australia, can I ask what state you are in and then I can forward your details onto our state rep.
I know they would be very grateful for any offers to help the more hands the lighter the work. TOP runs events and awareness stalls in all states via their State representative – there is a great team atmosphere and lots of fun
Our business partners are promoted here and on our social media http://www.orangutan.org.au/ supporters-partners
Our partner products (donate a % of sales) are promoted here http://www.orangutan.org.au/ how-to-help/partner-products
However, we don’t accept companies that use palm oil in their products from the Islands of Borneo or Sumatra (orangutan habitat).
If you would like any more information please feel free to contact
brianna.vidal@orangutan.org.au if you would like any more information for either partnership.
Thank you for supporting The Orangutan Project it is greatly appreciated.
If I can be of any more assistance please let me know.
Regards
Amanda Moore Customer Service Officer
